CPAC-ES Nutrition Month Culmination Goes Beyond Tradition
After one week of NEWSTART (Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Temperance, Air, Rest and Trust in God), emphasis,
CPAC-ES Nutrition Month Celebration culminated with an array of activities on July 31, 2017 at the CPAC Noah’s Ark.
As part of the pupils’ training, they themselves purchased their menu in Bacolod the day before the culmination. This has become an annual training for them, specially the leaders and the treasurers of the team.
On Monday, the department led the chapel program in the gym. Mrs. Ethel Gulfan gave an inspiring message centered on the theme “Healthy Diet Gawing Habit for life”.
After the devotional, Mr. Even Villar, CPAC-ES principal, introduced each participating teams, namely the TAMARED, NUTRICHAMP, FRUGGIES, HEALTHY WONDERS and GARDEN OF LIFE before they presented their jingles. After that, the pupils, with banners in hands and donned in their fruit and vegetable costumes, paraded the campus.
The pupils came back to the gym and display their fruits, vegetables and kakanin in their respective stalls. They showcased their skills in table setting, table manners, and entertaining costumers courteously. They also cooked a main menu while the judges, whom were announced to them only during mealtime, pretended to be onlookers and asked how they prepared their dishes. The judges were Mrs. Miriam Estores, Mrs. Diane Salleva, Mrs. Neneth Dapat, and Mrs. Mary Joy Jardeniano.
As a reminder and motivation that the pupils need to do their best in whatever they do, each team had to reach the gold, silver or bronze categories. They were assessed using a scoring rubric based on the following criteria: being customer-friendly, having a well-arranged stall, practicing meal etiquette, well-prepared dish, generated income and delivering chants and songs. The faculty of CPAC−ES and the parents supported and guided the learners throughout the program.
In the end, the Garden of Life and Healthy Wonders team landed on the silver category while TAMARED, Nutribites, FRUGGIES and NutriChamp reached the bronze category! Parents and sponsors guided the learners throughout the program in the morning.
In the afternoon, everybody enjoyed the carrot cake demonstration of Mrs. Miriam Valde, CPAC Cafeteria Matron. Free slices of carrot cake were distributed to the pupils and parents too. The Nutrition Month celebration culminated with a dental checkup by Dr. Jacqueline Arcenal, a dentist working for the Department of Education.
The Elementary Department of CPAC endeavors that the activities they have just had shall go beyond mere practice but also become a part of every CPACian’s lifestyle.
